Cutback: Drink Less or Quit

Effective date: July 7, 2026 / Last updated: September 4, 2026

The short version

Cutback has no account, no login, no advertising, and no behavioral analytics. Your tracking data is stored on your device and, when iCloud is available, synced through the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account. ClearForge cannot read that private data. RevenueCat processes limited purchase information to validate Pro access.

Your tracking and room data

Cutback stores the information you enter, including your plan and limits, drink entries, reasons, daily feelings, emotions, reflections, spending baseline, and room progress. This information is used to provide the app's features. Cutback does not send this personal tracking or room content to ClearForge or RevenueCat.

When iCloud is available, supported Cutback data syncs through Apple's CloudKit in the private database associated with your Apple Account. This helps keep your history available on your devices and when you replace a device. The data is governed by Apple's privacy practices, counts against your iCloud storage, and is not available to other Cutback users or to ClearForge.

Anchor photos are stored as local app files and are not part of Cutback's CloudKit record sync. Original photos in your Photos library remain under your control.

Data collected by our payment processor

Cutback uses RevenueCat to process in-app purchases and subscriptions. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat collects:

  • Purchase history to validate your transaction and restore it across devices.
  • An automatically generated app-user identifier and technical information needed to link the purchase to your entitlement.

Cutback does not provide your journal entries, photos, room contents, name, or email address to RevenueCat as subscriber attributes. RevenueCat uses purchase information for app functionality and purchase reporting. Cutback does not collect an advertising identifier (IDFA), show advertising, or track you across other apps or websites.

Diagnostics

Cutback uses Apple's MetricKit to detect crashes and performance issues. These diagnostic reports are collected and delivered by Apple's own systems. Cutback logs only a count of reports received and does not send their contents to ClearForge or a third-party crash-reporting service.

What we do not do

  • No account or sign-up, so we have no name, email, or password to lose.
  • No analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs.
  • No advertising identifiers, ad networks, or data brokers.
  • No location data.
  • No sale of personal information.
  • No ClearForge server that receives your drink logs, reasons, reflections, or room data.

Health and wellness notice

Cutback is a wellness tool and is not a medical device, medical service, or substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you believe you may have alcohol dependence, withdrawal symptoms, or a medical emergency, contact a qualified healthcare professional or emergency services.

Data deletion

Settings' delete action removes your plan, entries, check-ins, room progress, and supported preferences. When CloudKit sync is active, those deletions also propagate to your private iCloud database and other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. If the device is offline, deletion syncs after it reconnects.

Removing the app deletes its local data but does not necessarily delete data already synced to iCloud. Use Cutback's in-app delete action while iCloud is active if you want deletion to propagate. Deleting app data does not cancel a subscription, refund a purchase, or delete transaction information retained by Apple or RevenueCat under their policies. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.

Children’s privacy

Cutback is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 17, consistent with its App Store age rating.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, for example if we add a new feature that collects data, we will update this page and the effective date above.

Terms and Apple EULA

Cutback uses Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement unless a separate written agreement is provided.
